Thank you for taking the plunge and arriving here. I’ve thought about this over the last few months and worked on this in earnest the last few weeks. Today is Day 1 of my 100 Day Attack to a new phase in my career. It is not necessarily that big a deal. For me, it is quite ambitious.
Over the last three years, my consulting business of 20+ years has been set aside. You can read more about this time and where I am in A Prelude to the Preface. I’ve had fits and starts as I’ve tried to relaunch my consulting company and to work on my job search. During this period, I’ve continued to lead the youth soccer club that I founded in 2008. That has been its own struggle as we navigated the shutdown of COVID and worked to rebuild our player numbers.
If you found this place, then initially you are probably someone in my life who has made an impact on me. I understand some of you may have to do some work to figure out who exactly I am and where do you know me from! I am creating this space because I need help, and I want your help. I want to be my best version of me again, and I have quite a ways to go. I am hoping that you will be here regularly to encourage me, to challenge me, to connect with me again, to take time out of your busy life, to give me ideas, to connect me to your own friends, colleagues, contacts, and resources.
I know there must be many resources available to someone like me with my background in my circumstances with my goals, but I have struggled to find them or to use them. I will be collecting those resources here, to help me and hopefully to help others. I’m viewing this as a clean whiteboard to fill first with sticky notes of brainstormed and priorities actions to take today, February 1, and each day in February.
My 100 Days Goals
To find a new job To find a leadership team and group of people where I can be challenged and can make an immediate impact in 2023 and beyond.
To rekindle and reconnect My life is an alone life with little speaking to others and even fewer meeting with people.
To bring in revenue I am looking for short-term projects (1-4 weeks) in February and March.
To improve my mental health and well-being This is a first step for me, to acknowledge my struggles and to work on them.
Launch Day -4 Options is an ongoing list of where I could head next. I will be updating and prioritizing this list in the coming weeks and will use this to guide my daily tasks. Each of my days will be filled with new tasks and activities. I am sure I will start and stop many things, try and abandon several life hacks but some will stick.
Thank you again for taking the time to be here. What can you do to help me?
First, subscribe to craig’s journey, this substack. All of the content will be free to all subscribers. For subscribers, you will receive an email when I publish a new article. You can then click and read it, you can make comments, you can forward or share this with others.
You will see that there is also an option to become a paid subscriber, either on a monthly basis or as a Founding Member. My goal in this is not to monetize this substack, but I am assuming some of you may want to contribute so that you have more invested in my journey. If you want to become a paid subscriber, I thank you for this. I know that each subscriber will be a great encouragement to me, whether free or paid.
I plan on two-four new articles each week. I’m initially treating craig’s journey to impact as a cathartic space of accountability. If that is all it is, then it is enough. The rest of the week I will be working on goal setting, a daily schedule of activities, making a list of scary things that I am going to attack! Feel free to leave comments, short or lengthy. I know it will be a great help to me. If you have books, websites, individuals, firms that you think would help me, please leave a comment or email me at csquard@gmail.com. I will keep a running list of these ideas, and I know I’ll find some gems that will make an impact. I want as many helping hands as I can find.
The rest of today and probably tomorrow will be inviting people to arrive here. I am proud that I am here today and can’t wait to make new achievements! Thanks for being here.
You’ve got this!
Best of Luck. I am happy to support you in any way and look forward to your journey.
